I purchased 2 of these kettles and both, after a few months of use, leaked water through the viewing window. A great looking appliance; however, I wouldn't invest in another one.

Bought this over 6 months ago, and no problems. Love the look and feel. The lid has a little knob, but I have learned to work it right and it's no problem.

This tea kettle was great for about 6 months. Love the red color. It was easy to use, worked great. I even took it on vacation with us. But then it leaked. So now it is trash. A total waste of money.
 Bad design - it leaks June 26, 2010

I've had two of these CK1500R kettles. The first one started leaking in less than a year at the bottom of the water level window. I contacted Black & Decker and it was replaced under warranty. I figured my first kettle was a manufacturing fluke and I was pleased that B&W replaced it so easily. Now, less than a year later, the replacement kettle is leaking at exactly the same spot, the bottom of the water level window. When the water heats up the plastic in the window must expand because the leaks stops. If the kettle is left with water in it that cools down, there's a drop by drop steady leak until it's nearly empty. Obviously two of these in a row is not a fluke, but a design flaw. My recommendation is look elsewhere.

We are thrilled with this electric kettle. It is so nice to have hot water without the annoying whistle or spill over of boiling water. It re-heats quickly and water is at a great temperature. Plus it is very pretty on the counter.
