Less than a year of use = leaking from the bottom July 7, 2010 Courtnee Courtnee (Seattle, WA) I bought one of these kettles as an impulse from Target. It was really beautiful and heavy and seemed better made than the flimsy plastic ones I'd seen and used in the past. I got about 8 months of good use out of it, and delt with the difficult lid design explained by other reviewers because it looked nice and seemed like a solid product.
After 8 months, I'd occasionally come home to pools of water on my desk. I've been able to determine no reasonable cause for the leaking, just that it's coming from the bottom of the kettle and it seems to leak when the water is cold, as I've never found a warm puddle.
Now I only use the kettle to heat a small amount of water and don't let any water stand in the unit. Once it leaks again with this method, I'm throwing it away - and for the $50 I spent on it, I am very dissatisfied with that.
Vivian's kettle review May 26, 2010 kettle purchaser (Ridge, New York, US) The kettle itself is great in size and looks but the base is attached to the kettle and makes it that much heavier when picking up and pouring out water. If the bottom portion remained on the base and just the kettle was picked up it would be lighter and easier for older, arthritic persons to use.
Bit disappointed with it May 4, 2010 C. Fairhurst (Dallas, TX) I liked the shape of this kettle but there's several things I don't like about it now I have it. Same as another reviewer, I wouldn't have bought it if I'd actually been in the store.
I've burned my fingers a few times due to steam escaping from either the lid, or from on/off switch.
There is a metallic taste sometimes - it seems to have gone away now but I've had it a few months.
The filter blocks ups quickly and is fiddly to clean - I usually have to do it every week, emptying all the grunge at the same time.
The clear windows are now brown so it's hard to see the water level. I wouldn't expect that so soon. My previous kettle lasted years and I'm ready to replace this one already :( An expensive mistake.
Fairly good April 18, 2010 Hendrik Idzerda (Mill Valley, CA USA) I like the way the kettle looks and it heats the water quickly. The only frustrating part is the lid design. It is hard to get the lid open and angle the water in to fill it. Would not buy this model again because of this design flaw.
Boils fast, looks great February 7, 2010 Harknessa (Chicago, IL) This kettle looks great and doesn't take up too much space - I use it in my office. The sound of the boiling is my only complaint, as it's somewhat louder than others I've had. I would recommend this product, especially if you want a kettle you can leave out without cluttering up a room.
