Great design -- both form and function July 25, 2010 Stephen Musgrave So far so good. I use it every day and I love the convenience. It's a good weight, looks sharp, and most importantly, it boils water. I do wish it turned off as soon as the water came to boil, but it stays on for about 10 seconds -- and that's a very *minor* grievance.
I like the flip top so you never have to touch a potentially hot lid. Not having exposed coils makes it very easy to clean.
It has two anti-clutter features which I like -- one is that the cord wraps under the base so you only have as much cord exposed as you need -- and it's feet slide easily across the counter so storage against the counter wall after the steam has ceased is easy.
Highly recommended.
Great kettle with almost no plastic July 24, 2010 vmac00 I felt compelled to write a review about this kettle. It took me a very long time to select this particular kettle. I was on an exaustive quest to find an electric kettle with zero plastic parts. This is the only kettle that I found that has almost none. There is only a small amount of plastic on this kettle (the water doesn't have to come in contact with any). There is a small plastic filter attached to the inside of the lid and a plastic piece on the pour spout. I eliminate all contact with the plastic by simply opening the entire top to pour. Water heats up super fast, the outside stays pretty cool. I love this kettle I use it daily to heat water for tea.
Nice kettle with no plastic smell and taste July 20, 2010 JCS First, please excuse my grammar error in writing. English is not my
native language. Thank you. If you are looking for a wireless kettle
that has no plastic parts touching boiling water, this is the one to
buy. The bottom of the lid is plastic but it doesn't touch the water
and doesn't cause funny plastic smell or taste to the water. I
returned Chef's Choice 677 kettle because it makes water smell and taste
funny, like chemical, because of plastic parts touching boiling water. I
am pretty sure a lot of people know what I am talking about in terms of
funny chemical plastic smell and taste to the water. Any stainless steel kettles that
have water level indicator outside of the kettle have plastic and
silicone parts touching boiling water. This kettle doesn't have the
water level indicator outside because of that reason but has a level
clearly marked on the inside of the kettle. Yes, this level might be
hard to read it but once you know where the maximum level is, you
don't really need to see it. Some reviewer complains dripping when
pour but I don't have that much problem with dripping. Yes, sometimes
it drips very little when I pour but this should not prevent me from
buying this product. As other reviewer indicated, it makes sounds when
water boils but it is a natural boiling sound. No water boils quietly in
any pot or kettle. That's mother nature. I am pretty happy with this
product. No funny plastic smell or taste in the water!
least amount of plastic July 19, 2010 Matthew W Green I searched for hours (no exaggeration) to find an electric kettle that did not have plastic that would come in contact with the water. I read a review for this kettle saying there was no plastic in the water boiling area. They were right! The only plastic that comes in contact with the water is on the lid when pouring and you can open the lid and avoid this all together. It is a winner! It boils water in about 2 min. Even if filled just to the max line it does spurt a little water as it comes to a boil so be careful. The max water level is only about half way up the kettle. I measured how much water was in there after heating and is only about 5 1/2. I'm not sure where they are getting the 8 cups from. Maybe the whole kettle would hold that but not if you are following directions. I would highly recommend this product both for its quality and the fact that it costs a lot less than other stainless kettles that have plastic in them.
Exactly what I wanted! June 25, 2010 TLWSU This hot water kettle has an unique design lid. Very easy and safe to open and close. Water stays warm for a longer time because of it's "double wall stainless steel housing" design. Every feature works as Amazon's product description. I bought it for my daily use in the office and the size is just right.
